He's off the bench into the action, appearing in a total of three upcoming films: the gritty indie flick Prey for Rock & Roll, the epic costume drama, The Alamo, and the contemporary First Daughter, opposite Katie Holmes and helmed by Forest Whitaker––in the leading man role.

Marc Blucas blames
failure for his success, which is
exactly the kind of philosophy one might expect from a fresh-faced athlete-turned-actor.  The 31-year-old Blucas, whose early involvement with basketball culminated with a year of pro play in Manchester, England, managed to take the lessons he learned on the courts and apply them to the screen.

"You learn how to win, and you know how to lose.  The lessons of sports are endless and applicable regardless of race, religion, sex, or profession.  The biggest thing I learned was resilience.  You go back and play even if you lose, and you practice everyday until you get better."

Blucas has practiced his acting skills for over six years now, and at the moment he's more than ready to play in the big leagues.  Sitting outside a Santa Monica coffeehouse, he almost looks as if he's just stepped off the courts after winning a game.  He is bright-eyed and grinning with an air of modest victory, a quiet satisfaction that makes him charming and easy company.
